The Belgian Malinois, also known as the Malinois or Belgian Shepherd, is a medium-sized breed that originated in Belgium. They are intelligent, highly trainable, and loyal dogs that excel in various fields such as military and police work, search and rescue, and as family pets. They are active dogs that require plenty of exercise and mental stimulation, and they thrive in homes where they have a job to do.

Belgian Malinois is a medium-sized dog that typically weighs between 40 and 80 pounds and stands between 22 and 26 inches tall at the shoulder. They have a short, dense, and weather-resistant coat that comes in shades of fawn, mahogany, and black with a black mask. Their ears are triangular and stand erect, and they have a muscular and athletic build.


Belgian Malinois is generally a healthy breed with a lifespan of 12 to 14 years. However, they are prone to certain health issues such as hip and elbow dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, and cataracts. Regular exercise, a healthy diet, and routine veterinary care can help prevent or manage these conditions.


Belgian Malinois is one of four Belgian Shepherd breeds that were developed in Belgium in the late 1800s. They were originally bred for herding and guarding livestock and were later used as police and military dogs during World War I and World War II. Today, they are popular working dogs and family pets.
